What Is an Annual Stewardship Pledge?

Your Annual Stewardship Pledge is a commitment to make a financial gift over the course of a year that supports the mission of Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church. Pledging is a response to God’s call to each of us, and a response to the abundance of God’s blessing in our own lives: it is a statement of thanksgiving.

Why Does Palmer Need Annual Pledges?

Everything we do at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church relies principally on Stewardship pledges — paying clergy, supporting our outreach ministries, Christian Formation programs, music, paying the electric bill, and maintaining our beautiful campus. We need Stewardship commitments to plan our annual expenditures. In addition, part of every pledge supports the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and national church (ECUSA) and its ministry around the world.

Who Should Make a Pledge?

Anyone and everyone! If Palmer is your church home, we need your pledge. We hope you’ll feel you need it too as part of being a Christian.

How Much Should I Pledge?

We ask each parishioner to consider making a pledge that is both responsible and significant based on his or her financial situation. A tithe (10% of your income) has long been held as the standard of Christian giving. For most it is a goal to be reached through incremental increases each year. Every pledged dollar adds to our mission and ministry.

What Are the Best Ways to Pay My Pledge?

You may fulfill your pledge in as many payments as you wish throughout the calendar year. Paying in monthly or quarterly installments is convenient for many pledgers, and helpful to Palmer. We recommend that you consider using your bank’s billpayer system or use the sign-up available on Palmer’s website at https://palmerchurch.org/give/ for dollar donations. Donations may be made by bank wire or EFT to Palmer’s bank, Texas Gulf Bank, N.A., ABA No. 113115484, Palmer’s Account No. 9000900951.

Can I Pay by a Gift of Stock, a Donor-Advised Fund, or Through Other Means?

Yes, you may pay by a gift of stock or financial securities, through a donor-advised fund, or distributions from an Individual Retirement Account, which are very advantageous to many pledgers. What Happens if I Need to Change My Pledge?

We all understand that circumstances sometimes change. It is helpful if you notify Jessica Evans, Palmer’s financial manager, or 713-529-6196 if you need to change your pledge. If you’re blessed with unexpected extra resources, you’re always welcome to increase your pledge!
